About us
A drug company that had to build its own measuring instruments
BioGenetics Research is the trading name of Biogenetics Research Limited, a research company based in UK. We started with a nanomedicine question about ovarian cancer, found that nobody could measure the answer at the resolution we needed, and ended up building that capability ourselves. We now sell it.
Why the services side exists
Measuring whether a nanoparticle reached a peritoneal implant, and how deep into it, is a quantitative image analysis problem before it is a pharmacology problem. Building that capability took years. Keeping it busy on client work keeps the team sharp, funds the pipeline, and means our methods are tested against tissue types and staining problems we would never have encountered on our own.
Clients get analysts who have spent the week arguing about segmentation accuracy on their own programme, not just running someone else's software to spec.
What we hold ourselves to
- Report the disagreements
Where a model and a pathologist disagree, you see the cases. Where a result is fragile to a parameter choice, we say which parameter and by how much.
- Pre-specify the analysis
The method is written down and agreed before the data is looked at. Post-hoc adjustments are logged as deviations, not folded quietly into the result.
- Quote the cheaper option
If fee-for-service is right for you, we will not sell you an FTE contract. If your endpoint is not measurable in the material you have, we will tell you before invoicing.
- Keep the data yours
Your images and your derived data remain yours. Retention periods, residency and deletion are set in the contract, and data stays in the UK or EU by default.

Lab
Cell and tissue
Cell culture including 3D spheroid and organoid work, histology and immunostaining, and whole-slide imaging.
Compute
Image analysis
Scalable cloud analysis for whole-slide datasets, GPU model training, and a versioned model registry with reproducible runs.
Quality
Quality framework
Documented SOPs, training records, controlled environments and audit trails supporting GCP-standard delivery.
Network
Clinical collaborators
Working relationships with gynaecological oncology and pathology groups for annotated tissue and clinical input.
Network
Contracted partners
GLP toxicology, specialist electron microscopy and clinical-grade manufacture are contracted to accredited providers.
If you can argue with a pathologist about segmentation and change your mind when they are right, we would like to hear from you.
We hire image analysis scientists, formulation chemists and machine learning engineers. Speculative applications are read.
